In Search Engine Marketing, each time someone clicks on your ad, you are charged a pre-determined fee (Pay-per-Click/PPC), and you will see the traffic results almost immediately. In Search Engine Optimization, each time your site information is clicked, that represents a free visit to your site. The goal is to place in the top ten of the 1st results page to obtain that free visit. A top-ten or first page result will take time. If budget allows, your goal should be to use both.
